Ohio O&P Colleagues,
As of today, Ohio has begun to accept individuals displaced from their homes
by Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast Region, and we will open our facility
to provide needed prosthetic care to these individuals.
I will also gladly serve as an information point to maintain a list of O&P
facilities willing to do the same in our State so that we can all, in some
way, do our part to share in the burden of caring for these unfortunate
individuals.
I will also contact the American Red Cross to make them aware of this so
that word can get to those individuals who may need O&P care.
I would, therefore, ask that any O&P Facility in Ohio wishing to participate
in this Relief Effort to contact me indicating the O&P services you are
willing and capable of providing, along with the following information:

I would also like to ask for assistance from Prosthetic Manufacturers and/or
Suppliers who are willing to donate essential needs, such as prosthetic
socks, gel liners, suspension sleeves, and/or primary components, within reason,
if needed.
Lastly, I am asking that the Academy take on the task of coordinating this
effort on a national basis by identifying State O&P Coordinators, of which I
would be willing to accept being designated as for the State of Ohio.
